Monster is an anthology: every season tells a different true-crime story with a new cast. Below is the full season list in release order — plus the one thing most first-time viewers want to know before episode one.

Each Monster season is self-contained — new case, new cast, no continuing plot. If the Lizzie Borden season is why you're here, start there on September 17, 2026. Watching the earlier seasons is optional, not homework.

The list above is both release order and chronological order — the anthology has premiered one season at a time, 2022 through 2026.
How the seasons connect (and don't)
- Every season stands alone. New case, new cast, no continuing plot — skipping one doesn't spoil the others.
- The throughline is creative, not story: Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan's anthology returns with a fresh real case each time.
- One familiar face crosses seasons: Charlie Hunnam plays Ed Gein in Season 3 and Andrew Borden in Season 4 — two different people, two different roles.
- Season 4 adds Sarah Paulson as Aileen Wuornos in a separate, later-era storyline. She is not part of the 1892 Fall River household.
