Is this the same as the Lifetime Lizzie Borden movie?
No. The Lifetime projects — Lizzie Borden Took an Axe (2014) and The Lizzie Borden Chronicles (2015) — and the 2018 film Lizzie are unrelated to Netflix's Monster season. This site covers the Monster anthology only.
Is it based on a true story?
Yes, with heavy dramatization. The 1892 Fall River killings are real: Andrew and Abby Borden were killed, Lizzie Borden was accused, and she was acquitted at trial in June 1893. The series invents scenes, dialogue, and entire storylines — including an answer to a question the jury left open.
