The last hour braids the endings: a prison baptism, the settlement of the families' lawsuit for a fraction of its face value, and Christopher Scarver's metal bar — Dahmer dead within two years of the trial, cremated without a funeral, while his brain becomes the subject of one last custody fight between his parents.

The series ends where it began, on the neighborhood: the Oxford Apartments demolished, the victims' names in the closing titles, and a title card noting that no memorial had yet been built. It is the show's final indictment, and its quietest.
