The episode
The brothers step out of their own story for a week as the season turns to the parents: José leaving Castro's Cuba as a teenager, rebuilding from nothing, meeting Kitty, and building the Beverly Hills life that the murders will freeze into evidence photos.
The marriage curdles on camera — affairs, drinking, sons with too much money and too little leash — and the episode's darkest suggestion is that Kitty knew what was happening to her sons and chose the family's surface over them. It is the season's most speculative hour.
