The episode
The finale turns Gein into an institution: FBI profilers Robert Ressler and John Douglas interview him for their science, a letter he passes along helps corner Ted Bundy, and he receives visits from the ghosts of the canon he inspired.
He dies of cancer imagining his mother's approval, watches teenagers vandalize his grave, and gets the series' last word — a porch, a lemonade, and a mother's conditional love — before a chainsaw-revving dance into the night seals the show's argument: the monster America kept is the one it made into entertainment.
