The episode

After Abby's death on screen, the episode stays with Andrew: a drunk undertaker at work, a marriage already rotting, a night that turns into a confrontation with the kind of rage the rhyme later assigned to his daughter. The title is folklore. The jump-rope verse says Lizzie gave her father forty-one blows; the actual wounds were far fewer, and the jury did not treat the rhyme as evidence.

The show's Andrew is Charlie Hunnam's second Monster role after Ed Gein — two invented inner lives, two different men. What the episode claims about his past and about how he dies is dramatization built to justify the next morning's crime scene. The documented fact remains narrower: Andrew Borden was killed in the family house on August 4, 1892, and no one was ever convicted.
